Athletes - Rights and Responsibilities

Athletes’ Right
To ensure the effectiveness of global anti-doping processes, all athletes must fulfill their duties and responsibilities in global anti-doping. The World Anti-Doping Code clearly specifies athletes' roles and responsibilities regarding anti-doping.
Athletes' Rights and Responsibilities are as follows:
- Have knowledge and comply with all relevant anti-doping regulations
- Be available for sample collection at all times, both in and out of competition
- Take responsibility for substances entering the body and use within anti-doping context
- Inform medical personnel of their obligation not to use prohibited substances and accept responsibility to ensure any medical treatment received does not violate anti-doping rules according to the Code
- Disclose decisions by non-sports organizations that the athlete has violated anti-doping rules within the past 10 years to the Doping Control Agency for Sport (DCAT) and International Federations (IFs)
- Cooperate with anti-doping organizations investigating anti-doping rule violations
- Disclose the identity of athlete support personnel upon request from any anti-doping organization with authority over the athlete
