Checking Medications

Both prescribed and over-the-counter medications should be checked against the Prohibited List. Athletes should also inform their doctors and other medical professionals of their obligations as high-performance athletes and emphasise the fact that they are subject to the rules of the World Anti-Doping Code.

We recommend the use of Global Dro to check all medications. The Global Drug Reference Online (Global DRO) provides Athletes and Support Personnel with information about the prohibited status of specific medications based on the current World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List.

" Here are a few tips and tricks to help Athletes and Athlete Support Personnel navigate the Prohibited List and be able to select medications that are safe to take within the context of sport: "
  • Such as PARACETAMOL 500 mg, FUROSEMIDE 25 mg, etc.
  • Check if any information can be observed visually, using any method
  • Like reading labels, observing the cut, or any other methods
  • Check both package labels for quantity and packing list according to doctor's orders
  • Notify doctors and specialists that they are deaf and mute under the code of ethics for global drug use
  • Since each type of drug dissolves in the body differently, consider before using every time as it may affect injection timing and avoid mixing
  • Please be careful when using medication together since each drug has different medical effects. Extra caution is needed because drugs
  • Check and update the prohibited drug list (PROHIBITED LIST) regularly, as it is updated at least once a year
